'Cheeky' Fine for Driver as Police Remove Uninsured Vehicle

West Midlands Police have taken what they described as an 'uninsured whip' off the streets of Wolverhampton after spotting a suspicious Audi Q3. The incident occurred in the Whitmore Reans area over the weekend, where officers discovered the vehicle was displaying false registration plates.

The Traffic Stop and Discovery

Officers from the Low Hill, Bushbury & Fallings Park Police team were conducting Op Redfox patrols when they identified the Audi. Upon making the stop, they quickly established that the car, initially reported as an Audi Q7 in their social media post but later clarified to be a Q3, was not stolen. However, their enquiries revealed a more straightforward offence: the vehicle had no insurance.

Consequences for the Motorist

The driver did not escape without penalty. Police issued what they termed a 'cheeky fine' for the traffic violation. More significantly, the uninsured Audi was immediately seized. A photograph shared by the police team on Sunday, November 9, showed the vehicle loaded onto the back of a recovery truck, destined to be taken off the road.

The officers involved in the operation were named as PCs Bevan and Cookson. Their proactive patrol led to the detention of a man in connection with the offences. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by local police to tackle uninsured driving and vehicle-related crime in the community.
