NB Tyres Invests £500,000 to Expand Operations and Create New Jobs in County Durham
A prominent automotive business based in County Durham has undertaken a significant investment of almost £500,000 to expand its operations and generate new employment opportunities. NB Tyres, an independent tyre and auto service provider, has executed this investment over the past year, resulting in the opening of two new service centres in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, the expansion of its mobile servicing fleet, and the centralisation of operations at its head office in Durham.
Expansion Details and Service Enhancements
The improvements are strategically designed to reduce waiting times, increase coverage and responsiveness, and ensure that motorists and businesses receive faster, more efficient services across the region. With this expansion, NB Tyres now operates five vehicle service centres throughout the area, offering a comprehensive range of automotive services including tyre replacements and vehicle servicing.
The company has created 13 new permanent roles across service, management, and operational functions, bringing its total workforce to over 50 employees. These positions are intended to enhance consistency, training, and communication between customers, service centres, and the head office, reinforcing the company's commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Fleet Expansion and Mobile Capabilities
In addition to the new service centres, NB Tyres has expanded its mobile servicing capability by adding six new fitting vans and a 12-tonne logistics vehicle. This logistics vehicle can deliver up to 200 tyres in bulk directly to business, fleet, and agricultural customer sites across the region. Overall, the company's fleet now comprises 26 vehicles operating 24 hours a day, ensuring round-the-clock service availability.
Leadership Perspectives on Growth
James Bowman, director of NB Tyres, commented on the investment, stating, "Our investment throughout 2025 has been about building the foundations for sustainable growth here in the North East. By expanding our team, fleet, and infrastructure, we can operate at a larger scale while maintaining the high service levels our customers expect. Creating new roles locally is also an important part of our commitment to the region."
Fellow director Guy Wilks added, "Being an independent provider allows us to tailor services to the needs of local businesses and motorists. With our expanded team and fleet, we now have the scale and capability to support every type of customer across the North East. With these new service centres and our centralised operations in Durham, NB Tyres is well positioned to continue growing and contributing to the regional economy in 2026 and beyond."
The company plans to create additional roles in the future, further solidifying its growth trajectory and economic impact in the area.
