Lloyds Bank has appointed Fiamma Morton as Managing Director for SME banking, a move that will see her lead support for small and medium-sized businesses across the UK. The bank, which has branches in Birmingham, confirmed the appointment as part of its continued investment in business support, with £9.5 billion of new finance dedicated to SMEs in 2026.
New leadership for SME banking
Morton brings extensive experience across SME, commercial and institutional banking, having held senior leadership positions in business banking, operations, transformation and growth at companies including Goldman Sachs, Mastercard Worldwide and Bank of Queensland. Her most recent role was Chief Operating Officer at Westpac, one of Australia’s ‘big four’ banks, where she focused on making banking easier for customers and delivering commercial success, with responsibility for technology and AI integration.
Originally from Australia, Morton said: "Lloyds has a long history of supporting businesses across the UK, and I’m excited to bring my experience to a team that has such deep relationships with SME customers. My focus from day one will be to understand the challenges and opportunities businesses are facing, and to ensure we are providing the right support as they start, scale and grow. I’m looking forward to meeting customers and colleagues across the country in the weeks and months ahead."
Commitment to SMEs
Amanda Murphy, a senior figure at Lloyds, added: "SMEs play a vital role in economic growth, job creation and communities across the UK. We know that these businesses are the beating heart of our economy and Fiamma’s appointment strengthens our focus on supporting them with the expertise and finance they need to grow. Fiamma brings a strong track record of building high-performing teams, improving customer outcomes and delivering growth. I’m delighted to welcome her to Lloyds as we continue to invest in our SME proposition."
The appointment underscores Lloyds' ongoing commitment to the SME sector, with the £9.5 billion in new finance for 2026 representing a significant boost for businesses seeking capital. Morton's leadership is expected to build on this investment, ensuring that SMEs across the UK, including those in Birmingham, have access to the support they need.
