AC Milan have reportedly set a €20 million asking price for Ecuador international left-back Pervis Estupiñán ahead of the summer transfer window. The Serie A club are looking to recoup the fee they paid Brighton & Hove Albion just 12 months ago, according to Marca reporter Matteo Moretto.
Aston Villa's Interest and Digne's Departure
Aston Villa are keen to sign Estupiñán as a replacement for Lucas Digne, who is set to join Paris Saint-Germain. Digne, a French international, has been a key figure for Villa but is expected to move to the French capital in the coming months. Villa's interest in Estupiñán aligns with their need to strengthen the left-back position.
Estupiñán's Career Path
Estupiñán previously excelled under Unai Emery at Villarreal, where he also formed part of the defence alongside Pau Torres. His performances in La Liga earned him a move to Brighton, where he impressed before joining Milan last summer for around €20 million. However, at Milan, he struggled for regular starts in Serie A, starting just 13 league matches. The Ecuadorian also faced competition from Piero Hincapié for the national team left-back spot, with Hincapié preferred by coach Sebastián Beccacece during the World Cup, although Estupiñán still featured in two of Ecuador's four matches.
Villa's Right-Back Search
In addition to their left-back pursuit, Villa are also in the market for a new right-back. Andrés García is set to join Getafe on loan for the 2026/27 season, leaving a gap in the squad. Emerson Royal is one of several players Villa have considered, although it remains unclear how far talks with Flamengo have progressed. The club is evaluating options to bolster their defensive lineup.
Potential Impact of Estupiñán Signing
If Villa secure Estupiñán, he would bring Premier League experience and familiarity with Emery's system from their time together at Villarreal. His attacking prowess and defensive solidity could make him a strong addition to Villa's squad. However, his recent lack of regular game time at Milan raises questions about his form and fitness. The €20 million asking price reflects Milan's desire to break even on their investment from last summer.
