Birmingham City have 'resolved the matter' which led to a winding up petition being filed against them. A report from The Business Desk revealed that Blues had been issued with a winding up petition by HSS ProService, a major digital marketplace for hiring or buying tools, plant machinery, building materials and fuel.
Background of the Petition
This situation mirrors a recent case involving Blues' Championship rivals Watford, who were served with a winding up petition by a stewarding firm over an alleged unpaid debt. To wind up a company, the owed amount must be £750 or more, and applications are sent to the High Court.
Blues have since been in touch with the company involved and confirmed the matter has been settled. In a statement released to BirminghamLive, a Blues spokesperson said: "Birmingham City was disappointed to learn, through media reports, of a purported winding‑up petition. We have not been formally served nor notified of the action, and have sought clarification from the company concerned."
Resolution and Statement
The spokesperson added: "The matter relates to a small number of invoices that were under reconciliation, including instances where supporting documentation was required before they can be processed, in line with standard business practice. We have since been in contact with the company and the matter has been resolved and the notice will be removed."
Birmingham City's swift response ensured the winding up petition, which could have led to serious financial and legal consequences, was dealt with promptly. The club remains focused on its operations and upcoming season.
