Exeter Shopify Agency Secures £7.6m Investment

An Exeter-based e-commerce agency has secured a £7.6 million investment to accelerate its growth, the company announced. Swanky, which specialises in helping retailers and brands launch, scale, and optimise their online performance within the Shopify ecosystem, is set to expand its workforce and explore selective mergers and acquisitions.

Company Background

Founded by Dan McIvor, Swanky was appointed as a Shopify Plus partner in the EMEA region a decade ago and now operates internationally across the UK, Europe, and Australia. The company employs 70 people based in Devon and works with businesses in the UK, US, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

Leadership Changes

As part of the transaction, Chris Hirst, former global chief executive at Havas Creative Group, has joined Swanky as chair. Elly Adams, a former PwC director, has been appointed as finance chief. Amy Dougan has been promoted to chief operating officer, while Matt Giles remains an executive board member as co-founder and chief creative officer.

Dan Partridge, who joined as chief executive in 2021 and has led the company through a period of expansion, said: "This investment marks an exciting new chapter for Swanky.
