Manchester United have secured the signature of Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa after activating his £35 million release clause. The 29-year-old has agreed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, ending his three-year spell under Unai Emery at Villa Park.

Aston Villa would not have entertained Tielemans' departure this summer had it not been for the release clause inserted into his contract when he joined on a free transfer from Leicester City in the summer of 2023. The clause, believed to be £35 million, was activated by Manchester United, leaving Villa with no option but to allow the move.
During his time at Villa, Tielemans made 134 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 25 assists. He had two years remaining on his contract, and Villa were reportedly keen to extend his deal before United's interest materialized.
