TSG buys Berkshire media specialist in multimillion-pound deal

Newcastle-based Technology Services Group (TSG) has acquired Creative Computing Solutions, a Berkshire-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central partner, in a multimillion-pound deal. The acquisition is expected to double TSG's Business Central practice and increase its headcount by approximately 8%.

Deal details and strategic fit

Creative Computing Solutions, headquartered in Maidenhead, serves around 100 customers, including Hat Trick Productions, known for shows like Smoggie Queens, Mastermind, Derry Girls, and Have I Got News For You. The firm specialises in the production and media sectors using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

As part of the transaction, Creative Computing Solutions' CEO Justin Farmiloe will join TSG's management team as Chief Technology Officer. Existing contracts, support arrangements, and intellectual property of bespoke customer solutions will remain unchanged, ensuring a seamless transition for clients.

Benefits for customers and employees

Customers will continue to work with the same management and support teams they know, while gaining access to TSG's broader capabilities in cloud, infrastructure, business applications, managed IT services, cyber security, data, and AI. TSG also offers TSG Academy, the most-used Microsoft training platform in the UK, free to customers.

Rory McKeand, CEO of TSG, said: “For us, Creative Computing Solutions was a natural fit, offering an established Business Central customer base, the technical expertise our partners expect, and complementary capabilities that will further enhance our offering.”

Growth trajectory and MBO background

The acquisition is part of TSG's continued expansion following a management buyout (MBO) in July 2024, backed by significant investment from Pictet Alternative Advisors. The MBO saw CEO Rory McKeand and his leadership team join forces with Pictet, marking an exit for founders Sir Graham Wylie and executive chairman David Stonehouse.

This is the third acquisition TSG has completed since the MBO. The company now employs around 300 people, delivering customer support to businesses using Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, and Pegasus business applications, as well as broader Microsoft technologies. Its clients include Perspective Financial, Day Lewis Pharmacies, and McQueen's Dairies.

Expert commentary

Justin Farmiloe, now CTO at TSG, said: “Creative Computing Solutions has built its reputation on long-term customer relationships, practical support and deep Business Central expertise. In choosing TSG, it was important to find a partner that understood our customers, our people and the specialist capability we have developed. This acquisition gives us the scale and wider expertise to do more for customers, while protecting the relationships and support they trust.”

The deal is expected to double TSG's Business Central practice, boost technical expertise, and enhance sector knowledge and Microsoft solutions capability.
