Everyman Cinema CEO Steps Down After 5 Years, Interim Leader Named
Everyman Media Group CEO Alex Scrimgeour steps down

The chief executive of upmarket cinema chain Everyman Media Group has resigned from his position after leading the company for almost five years.

Leadership Change at Premium Cinema Chain

Alex Scrimgeour has stepped down from his role as chief executive, the company confirmed. He has been replaced on an interim basis by non-executive director Farah Golant.

Ms Golant will lead the London-headquartered business with backing from the existing management team and board while a permanent successor is found. The change was announced on 29 December 2025.

Steering Through Recovery and Growth

Philip Jacobson, the group's non-executive chairman, paid tribute to Mr Scrimgeour's tenure. He highlighted the outgoing CEO's pivotal role in navigating the company's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"He has played a pivotal role in the team that successfully led the business through its recovery from COVID, more than doubling revenue and delivering significant EBITDA growth," Mr Jacobson stated. "He has also built a strong and capable operational team."

The company's financial performance has been robust. In July 2025, Everyman announced its first-half revenue for the year had surged 21 per cent to £56.5 million. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) saw an even sharper rise, jumping 33 per cent to £8.2 million.

This growth was driven by a 15 per cent increase in admissions, with 2.2 million customers visiting its venues. At the time, Mr Scrimgeour credited the "unique brand of high-quality, experience-led cinema" for the strong results.

Interim CEO Brings Media and Entertainment Expertise

The board expressed confidence in the interim appointment. Farah Golant brings considerable experience from the global creative, entertainment, and media sectors.

"Farah has extensive experience across the global creative, entertainment, and media industries, and a track record of accelerating growth and cultivating high performance, results-oriented organisations," said Mr Jacobson.

"Working alongside our leadership group, she will continue to deliver exceptional customer experiences, focus on driving sustainable growth, and create long-term value for shareholders."

Everyman, which aims to "redefine cinema", focuses on premium venues that combine film with hospitality. Its sites are located across the UK, including in cities such as Bristol, Plymouth, Liverpool, Cardiff, Newcastle, and York.
