Aston Villa's director of football, Damian Vidagany, has confirmed the club is in active discussions with Bayern Munich regarding a potential move for midfielder Joao Palhinha. The news comes as Villa look to reinforce their squad following a season-ending injury to Amadou Onana.

Speaking to German outlet Bild, Vidagany expressed strong interest in the Portuguese international, highlighting his suitability for Unai Emery's system. "We need a midfielder because Amadou Onana is out for the entire season – and João Palhinha is a very good player who would fit our plans," he said.
The director confirmed that talks are underway but stressed that no agreement has been reached yet. "We are in talks, but there is currently no agreement. If something were to happen, it would always be based on the great respect we have for Bayern," Vidagany added.

"We are friendly clubs, and our relationship with Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, and all the other officials is excellent. That's down to our project, our work as a team, and the tactical influence of Unai Emery, who in my eyes is one of the best coaches in the world," Vidagany added.
