Raids Lead to Closure Orders for Two Shops
Sandwell Council and West Midlands Police have secured closure orders against two Cradley Heath shops following an eight-month investigation into illegal tobacco sales. The premises, International Vape and All Day, were raided and found to be selling illicit tobacco products. The orders, granted at Walsall Magistrates Court, will keep the shops shut for a maximum of three months.
Six Shops Now Closed in Crackdown
The operation, led by the council's trading standards team, has now resulted in a total of six shops in Cradley Heath being ordered to close. The enforcement action is part of a wider effort to tackle illegal activity on the high street, with authorities using every available tool to disrupt criminal activity.
Council Warns of Zero Tolerance
Councillor Bob Jones, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for environment and enforcement, said: "We're serious about tackling illegal activity on our high streets. Securing our fifth and sixth closure orders this month sends a clear message that Sandwell Council will not tolerate businesses that break the law. We continue to work closely with West Midlands Police and our partners to identify businesses that are breaking the law and take robust enforcement action."
