Mark Skinner, 61, is preparing to take on an extraordinary endurance challenge, cycling 200 miles in a single day from Blackpool to Skegness. On June 20, 2026, Mark will embark on an epic cycle ride to raise vital funds for Sheffield-based homeless charity Roundabout.
The ambitious coast-to-coast ride will see Mark set off from the Lancashire seaside resort and head east across northern England, over the Snake Pass and through Manchester, passing through Sheffield before continuing on to the Lincolnshire coast. Covering 200 miles in one day will be a significant physical and mental test, but Mark is determined to finish the entire route within a single day.
Ambitious challenge
Starting before dawn in Blackpool, he will spend long hours in the saddle across varied terrain in support of a cause close to his heart. Mark said: “Roundabout is an incredible charity and does amazing work supporting young people who are homeless or at risk. I hope my ride helps raise both awareness and essential funds for them.”
About Roundabout
Roundabout supports young people aged 16 to 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across South Yorkshire. The charity provides safe accommodation, life skills support, tenancy training and tailored guidance, helping vulnerable young people build the confidence and independence needed to move forward with their lives. Funds raised from Mark’s challenge will go directly towards supporting these vital services.
Supporters can follow Mark’s progress and donate to his fundraising campaign via his JustGiving page. Local residents and businesses are encouraged to get behind the challenge, share his story and help raise awareness of youth homelessness as he takes on this remarkable one-day, 200-mile ride.
