HMRC to Send £359 Double Child Benefit Payment in June
HMRC Sends £359 Double Child Benefit Payment in June

HMRC is sending a bumper £359 to households in June as Child Benefit will be paid twice for some claimants due to the month having five Mondays. Child Benefit is worth £27.05 per week for the eldest or only child, while the weekly rate for each additional child has increased to £17.90. This means claimants could receive £216 for their first child in June and potentially £143 for their second, totalling £359.

Payment Schedule Details

HMRC stated: “Child Benefit is usually paid every 4 weeks on a Monday or Tuesday. There are different payment dates if it’s due on a bank holiday. You can work out when you’re next going to get Child Benefit by counting 4 weeks forward from your last payment. Do not count forward if your payment was due on a bank holiday - the dates are different. Your payment might be delayed if the bank is closed for a public holiday on the day HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) pays you. Check with your bank for the date you’ll get your payment.”

Why Two Payments in One Month?

Under normal circumstances, you cannot receive two standard Child Benefit payments in the same calendar month because payments are designed to be made every four weeks. However, due to specific system-related scenarios, two payments can occur in one month. If an upcoming four-week payment falls on a public or bank holiday, the money is typically deposited early. If your previous payment fell near the start of the month and the next one lands early near the end, two payments can hit your account in a single calendar month.
