Jet2 Reports Record Passenger Numbers on May Day Holiday

Jet2 has announced a "record" number of passengers traveling this May Day Bank Holiday weekend, marking a significant milestone for the UK airline and tour operator. The company, which competes with Ryanair, Easyjet, TUI, and Wizz Air, reported unprecedented customer numbers jetting off to sunny destinations from airports across the United Kingdom.

Record-Breaking Weekend

On Monday, May 4, Jet2 revealed that a surge of holidaymakers have taken to the skies, heading to popular destinations including Spain, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Morocco. The company described the weekend as a "record" period for passenger volumes.

CEO's Statement on Customer Service

Steve Heapy, Chief Executive Officer of Jet2, emphasized the importance of the company's customer-first approach. "Looking at the number of people jetting away with us to the sunshine this May Day Bank Holiday weekend, it is clear just how much people are looking forward to enjoying their hard-earned holidays," Heapy said. "As always, every single colleague, including our famous Red Team, is ready to look after customers, and we know that our level of care is a real point of difference. We are operating our scheduled programme and delivering our award-winning customer experience as normal, and we cannot wait to welcome everybody onboard."

Industry-Leading No Surcharge Policy

In a move that sets Jet2 apart from its rivals, the company became the first UK airline and tour operator to confirm it will not introduce surcharges on any booked flights or holidays to cover cost increases, such as jet fuel. This ensures that the price customers book is the price they will pay. Jet2 has removed the surcharge provision across all flights and holidays, despite never having applied them previously.

This announcement comes as UK airlines prepare for potential disruptions this summer due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East affecting jet fuel supplies. Airlines are considering cancelling or consolidating flights to conserve fuel and avoid major delays, but Jet2's commitment to its scheduled programme remains firm.
