Mum Smuggles 100 McDonald's Curry Sauce Pots to Benidorm

A mother from the West Midlands who consumes 14 pints of McDonald's curry sauce each month has successfully 'smuggled' 100 packets of the condiment on her holiday to Benidorm, Spain. Sophie Sant, 21, from Tipton, feared she could not enjoy her five-night trip without her beloved sauce and took matters into her own hands.

Addiction to Curry Sauce

Sophie's obsession with McDonald's curry sauce began when she was just 12 months old, having it with her first Happy Meal. Now, she refuses to eat any meal without it. She buys boxes of 336 packets for £33.60 and consumes at least five packets per meal, totaling around 310 packets per month. That equates to approximately 7.8 litres or 14 pints of sauce monthly.

The mum-of-one packs ten packets in her handbag whenever she dines out. She said: 'I am very much so addicted to McDonald's curry sauce with every meal. I'm physically unable to spend five nights without it.'

Smuggling Attempt

Before her trip, Sophie shared a TikTok video showing herself packing 100 sauce packets into her suitcase. She expressed anxiety about airport security, saying she was 'scared for her life' they might confiscate the sauce. In the clip, she carefully placed the packets into plastic bags and tucked them into her luggage, joking that her boyfriend lost a pair of trainers in the process.

Sophie said: 'I worked it out to needing 140 so I got my box of curry sauce out from under my bed and started counting out all the sauces and there were only 100 left. I ordered a McDonald's and ordered more curry sauce so I am going to try and squeeze some more in there.'

Successful Journey

Upon flying to Benidorm on June 6, Sophie was relieved to find that airport security did not question the sauce packets. She said: 'I was scared to get it through but it went through no problem at all, they didn't even question it at all. It was such a relief.' She has since enjoyed the sauce with pizza, pasta, chips, and nuggets, avoiding local Spanish cuisine.

Sophie's family is accustomed to her habit. Her grandfather used to buy her boxes of curry sauce as gifts until his death in 2021. Now, even her daughter refuses to eat without the sauce. Sophie's boyfriend, however, avoids it except with McDonald's fries.

Social media users found the story amusing, with comments like 'I can't deal with you and this sauce' and 'This made me laugh so much.' Sophie's unique dedication to her favorite condiment has certainly made her trip memorable.
