An NHS trust in Greater Manchester has been honoured with a top national award for the exceptional quality of its work experience and training programmes.
Gold Standard Recognition for Training Excellence
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded the prestigious NHS England Gold Award for delivering outstanding support and training to work experience applicants. The honour recognises the trust's commitment to creating meaningful and high-quality placements for those considering a career in healthcare.
The achievement was secured by the trust's learning and education team, in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation. An official review by NHS England concluded that the team at Stepping Hill Hospital and community NHS services in Stockport provide excellent support, high-standard assessments, and accessible information packs for learners.
Creating a Pipeline for Future NHS Staff
The report praised the team for fostering a friendly environment where individuals can discuss their career options and develop transferable skills. Over the past year, the trust's efforts have translated into significant numbers:
- Providing just under 200 work experience placements.
- Offering over 100 T-Level and cadet placements.
- Attending 20 career events throughout Stockport.
- Delivering a One Stockport Safari Taster Day to 150 local students.
- Running three Pre-Employment Programmes, with over 80% of participants gaining employment at the trust.
Placements have spanned a wide array of departments, including hospital wards, Pharmacy, Radiology, Theatres, Finance, Administration, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, and IT.

The NHS England review stated the team showed "an incredible commitment to creating meaningful and high-quality work experience placements" and have "set a fantastic standard for others to follow."
