Lloyds Bank Shuts 15 Branches in England: Locations

Lloyds Bank has issued a warning to its customers following the closure of branches in 15 towns and cities across England. The move is part of a significant and ongoing reduction of the bank's physical network.

The Changing Face of Banking

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group, which also owns Halifax and Bank of Scotland, explained the decision. They stated that over 21 million customers now use the group's mobile apps to manage their finances, signalling a major shift in behaviour. The company is responding by prioritising digital services while maintaining face-to-face options through partners.

"We’re providing more choice than ever before, bringing together the best in digital convenience with our people," the spokesperson said. They confirmed that customers can still access services through a variety of channels.

Where Have Branches Closed?

The latest round of closures, completed in November, affected a wide range of locations. Customers in the following areas have seen their local Lloyds Bank branch shut its doors permanently:

  • Blandford Forum – November 10
  • Bristol - Bishopsworth (Church Road) – November 6
  • Chard – November 11
  • Coventry – Foleshill – November 4
  • Debden – November 12
  • Dunstable – November 4
  • East Grinstead – November 12
  • Feltham – November 4
  • Ferndown – November 17
  • Hexham – November 5
  • Manchester - Newton Heath – November 5
  • Plymstock – November 4
  • Pontardawe – November 20
  • Sheffield – Woodhouse – November 11
  • Shipston-on-Stour – November 11

What Are the Alternatives for Customers?

For those affected by the closures, Lloyds has outlined several alternative ways to bank. Customers can use any remaining Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branch for their everyday needs. Other options include the Post Office network and the new shared Banking Hubs being established in some communities.

For cash deposits, the bank points to its partnership with PayPoint, allowing deposits at over 30,000 locations nationwide. The group also offers services through Community Bankers and dedicated deposit services.

This latest set of closures is not an isolated event. The 61 branches shut this year contribute to a wider plan by Lloyds Banking Group to reduce its total branch network by nearly 300 by March 2026. This reflects a broader trend across the UK banking sector as customer habits continue to evolve rapidly towards digital and remote services.
