Consumer champion Martin Lewis has unveiled a trio of insider tips that could slash the cost of shopping on Amazon by as much as half. The founder of MoneySavingExpert.com shared his savvy advice during an appearance on ITV's This Morning with hosts Dermot O'Leary and Christine Lampard on 17 December 2025.

The second department is 'Amazon Renewed'. This section sells used, previous-generation technology—such as Apple, Samsung, and Dell products, headphones, games consoles, and smartwatches—that is over a year old. Crucially, these refurbished items come with a one-year warranty for peace of mind.
The third area is 'Amazon's Outlet'. Lewis humorously described this as "odds and ends 'junk that you would like to put in your trunk'." While he admitted it often contains unwanted items, he highlighted it can be a "goldmine" for kids' toys and games.
A Crucial Warning on Amazon Discounts
Lewis issued a vital warning to shoppers about how Amazon displays price reductions. He cautioned that a stated discount, such as 22% off, needs scrutiny. The key question to ask is: 'What is it discounted from, and when was it at that price?'
To combat potentially misleading offers, he recommended an independent website called Camel Camel Camel. This free tool allows users to paste an Amazon product link and view its complete price history. "It might be 22 per cent off now, but you might see three months ago it was 57 per cent off," Lewis said. This enables shoppers to verify how genuine a current promotion really is.
