All holders of NS&I Premium Bonds are being urged to check their accounts on Tuesday morning, following the confirmation of the latest prize winners for February 2026. The announcement includes two lucky bondholders who have each secured a life-changing £1 million jackpot, with winning numbers now publicly revealed.
February's Million-Pound Premium Bonds Winners Revealed
The first winning bond number for the top prize is 489TB013219, belonging to a bondholder based in Central Bedfordshire. This individual purchased their winning Bond in February 2022 and holds the maximum allowable amount of £50,000 in Premium Bonds. The second £1 million jackpot winner hails from Liverpool, with their winning Bond number identified as 40QJ919368. This Bond was purchased much earlier, in October 2004, and the holder also maintains a total of £50,000 in Premium Bonds, as confirmed by NS&I.
How to Check If You've Won a Premium Bonds Prize
Bondholders can easily check if they have won prizes ranging from £25 to £100,000 by using several convenient methods. The Premium Bonds prize checker app, the official NS&I website, or even asking Alexa are all viable options. For February 2026, the checking date is set for Tuesday, 4 February. To access prizes via the NS&I website, bondholders will need their Premium Bonds holder’s number, while those using the app can utilise either their holder’s number or their NS&I number.
It's important to note that newly purchased Premium Bonds must be held for one full calendar month after purchase before becoming eligible for the prize draw. Prizes are funded based on a prize fund rate applied across the total of all eligible Premium Bonds held, offering a secure and potentially rewarding investment backed by HM Treasury.
Unclaimed Premium Bonds Prizes and Expert Opinions
Despite the excitement of tax-free prizes, there remains a significant amount of unclaimed winnings. Currently, there are 2,695,399 unclaimed prizes worth a staggering £112,985,200 awaiting claim by bondholders. This highlights the importance of regularly checking accounts to ensure no prizes are missed.
However, some personal finance experts, including prominent figures like Martin Lewis from the BBC and ITV, express reservations about Premium Bonds. While they offer security and the thrill of potential wins, these experts advise caution and recommend considering all investment options. The Bond numbers for the two £1 million jackpot prize winners are announced on the first working day of each month, with winners contacted directly by Agent Million.
