Santander Offers £200 Cash Boost to Help UK Customers with Festive Finances
Santander gives £200 to customers switching current accounts

In a move aimed at providing relief during the costly festive period, Santander UK has launched a generous cash incentive for current account customers. The high street bank is offering a £200 bonus payment to both new and existing customers who switch to one of its eligible accounts.

How to Claim the £200 Switching Bonus

To secure the £200 payment, customers must meet several key conditions set by the bank. The switch must be requested on or after 10 November 2025 and before the promotion is withdrawn. Applicants need to use the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) to move their main account fully, which includes closing their old external bank account, within a 60-day window.

Furthermore, to qualify, customers must pay a minimum of £1,500 into their new Santander account during the switching period. This can be done through one or several payments. They are also required to set up a minimum of two active household Direct Debits, such as for council tax, utilities, or broadband. Once all criteria are verified, the £200 will be deposited into the account within 30 days.

Supporting Customers During a Costly Season

Anthony Warrington, Head of Current Accounts at Santander UK, explained the rationale behind the offer. He stated that the bank recognises the financial strain many face as Christmas approaches, with shopping, social plans, and rising household costs all contributing. The offer is Santander's way of "giving a little something back" to help customers make their money go further and enjoy the festive season with less worry.

The promotion applies to several of Santander's popular current accounts, including the Everyday, Edge, Edge Up, Edge Explorer, and Private (v2) accounts.

Ongoing Account Benefits and Features

Beyond the one-off cash incentive, Santander's accounts continue to provide valuable everyday perks. The Edge and Edge Up accounts offer 1% cashback on selected household bills, capped at £10 and £15 per month respectively. Edge Up customers also benefit from a competitive monthly interest rate of 2.50% AER on balances up to £25,000.

The newer Edge Explorer account package includes additional lifestyle benefits such as 24/7 remote GP access, mobile phone and travel insurance, and fee-free debit card usage abroad, presenting a comprehensive banking proposition for eligible switchers.
