Alton Towers Resort has unveiled never-before-seen drone footage of its latest attraction, the Bluey-themed rollercoaster titled 'Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!'. The sneak peek offers a unique 'kiddo-eye-view' of the junior coaster, which is set to open on Saturday, March 28, at CBeebies Land within the Staffordshire theme park, perfectly timed for the Easter holidays.
First Look at the Ride's Features and Design
The drone footage captures the Grannies’ Car as it exits the ride station, giving fans a glimpse of the mischievous driving style of characters Janet and Rita from the beloved Bluey episode. The ride winds through Bluey’s backyard, featuring playful twists and turns along the track. A highlight is the inclusion of Bluey’s iconic family home from the show, which serves as a dedicated photo-opportunity for visitors.
Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, expressed enthusiasm about the reveal, stating, “It’s exciting to be able to give eager fans and families an official first-look at our newest attraction this spring. This first glimpse shows what promises to be an exciting experience for the whole family - from little ones to grandparents - which brings the limitless energy of Bluey to life.”
Parental Excitement and Fan Reactions
Parents have reacted with overwhelming excitement to the new ride, with many sharing their anticipation online. One parent commented, “Almost 32 and not ashamed to say I want to ride this. It looks amazing.” Another added, “Parents will love this! I mean our kids!” while a third exclaimed, “I'm OBSESSSEDDDDD .. err I mean the kids will be obsessed.” Some even humorously suggested that the attraction could “singlehandedly save Alton towers.”
Expanding Bluey Experiences at the Resort
The new coaster joins existing Bluey-themed offerings at Alton Towers Resort, including popular meet-and-greet sessions with characters like Mum (Chilli), Dad (Bandit), Bluey, and Bingo, as well as live experiences within the Big Fun Showtime. Additionally, the resort has announced plans to introduce more Bluey-themed hotel rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel, enhancing the immersive experience for families.
Natasha Spence, Events Director for Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, highlighted the fan excitement, saying, “We know our Bluey fans can barely contain their excitement for the new ride, and this drone footage lets us see exactly why - showcasing Bluey’s first-ever coaster at CBeebies Land as a child experiences it.”
This attraction is touted as the first of its kind globally, offering a family-friendly rollercoaster experience inspired by the multi-Emmy Award-winning animated series.
