The Big Food Festival is set to make its highly anticipated debut in Aberystwyth this month, bringing a weekend of culinary delights to the grounds of Penweddig. From Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23, the venue will be transformed into a vibrant street food haven, offering three days of flavour-packed experiences. Best of all, entry is completely free all weekend, making it an ideal outing for families and food enthusiasts alike.
A Festival Born in Wales
Launched in Wales in 2025 by founders Maria Gania and Stephanie Silva, the Big Food Festival first wowed crowds at Gnoll Country Park in Neath. Its success there quickly propelled it into a major event across South and West Wales. Now, the festival is venturing further west than ever before, bringing its signature open-air dining experience to Ceredigion for the first time.
According to the founders, every vendor is personally handpicked to ensure a diverse and high-quality line-up. With a strict policy of no duplicate cuisines, visitors can expect an extraordinary variety of world flavours, from smoked meats and wood-fired pizza to Japanese fusion, Greek street food, and freshly made desserts.
Welsh Drinks and Local Suppliers
The festival's bar will be fully stocked with Welsh drinks brands, including Tiny Rebel, Gwynt y Ddraig, and Penderyn. The organisers prioritise Welsh suppliers and local contractors wherever possible, ensuring a direct economic boost to the areas they visit.
Maria Gania, event director and co-founder of Big Food Festival, said: "Bringing the festival to Aberystwyth is a big moment for us. Mid Wales deserves the same calibre of street food event as the cities, and we have handpicked every single trader to make sure the weekend delivers. Entry is free, it is family friendly, it is dog friendly, and we cannot wait to welcome the town."
