Two of Birmingham's most popular festive attractions are preparing to shut their doors for the season, with this weekend offering the final chance for visitors to enjoy them.
Last Chance for Festive Fun
The Ice Skate Birmingham rink and its neighbouring big wheel will both close permanently on Sunday, January 4. These major draws have been central to the city's winter celebrations since they opened on November 1, providing entertainment even after the Frankfurt Christmas Market concluded on Christmas Eve.
The large indoor ice rink, situated prominently on Centenary Square, is the city's largest under-cover skating facility. Its 600-square-metre real ice surface offers a perfect rainy-day activity with views of the Library of Birmingham and other historic buildings in the square.
Attraction Details and Final Times
The rink has operated daily from 10am until 11pm, excluding Christmas Day. Alongside the skating, the venue features an Ice Lounge and Bar, extending the Christmas cheer into the new year.
The iconic big wheel, which has become a symbol of seasonal fun in the city centre, will also make its final rotations on Sunday. It provides panoramic views over the library, Council House, Town Hall, Brindleyplace, and towards The Cube.
Ticketing and Booking Information
Standard tickets to skate are priced at £14 for adults and £12 for children, with discounts available for students and families. Rides on the big wheel cost £8 for adults and £7 for children.
For those looking to experience both attractions, bundled tickets combining a skate session and a wheel ride are available from £10 per person. All prices are subject to booking fees.
Advance booking is recommended and can be done via the official Ice Skate Birmingham website. This weekend represents the last opportunity to enjoy these seasonal highlights before they disappear until next winter.
