EasyJet has announced it will cover the cost of new-born babies' passports for families booking an easyJet holiday, a move aimed at easing the financial burden on parents during the cost of living crisis. The airline, which operates from Birmingham Airport (BHX), confirmed on Thursday, October 22, that it will reimburse the £66.50 fee for a child's passport in the UK when parents book an easyJet holiday.
Offer details and eligibility
The offer applies to bookings for one child up to 18 months old, provided the booking is made until November 26. This initiative covers the standard UK child passport fee, which currently stands at £66.50. EasyJet, which competes with Jet2, TUI, British Airways, and Ryanair on routes from Birmingham, is rolling out this gesture as part of its broader efforts to make family travel more affordable.
EasyJet holidays customer director Stuart Wright highlighted the emotional significance of the move, saying: "Travel has a unique way of bringing families together, and a baby's very first holiday is often one of those moments parents remember for years to come." He added: "By covering the cost of a baby's first passport, we're helping more families start making those memories that little bit sooner."
Additional family-friendly benefits
Wright also pointed to the company's existing family-oriented offerings, stating: "Combined with our great-value packages, family-friendly hotels and thousands of Free Kids Places, it's another way we're making family holidays easier and more affordable."
The announcement was further championed by EasyJet captain and new parent Kate West, who appears in a new digital short video on the Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle Parenting YouTube channel, providing practical advice on taking the perfect baby passport photo. West emphasised the airline's commitment to accessibility, saying: "We carry millions of families across Europe every year, and we know that travelling with a baby brings a whole series of exciting firsts."
Impact on young families
West continued: "We want to make travel as easy and accessible as possible for everyone, including young families, so they can enjoy all the experiences and memories that travel can bring." She concluded: "We hope that covering the cost of a baby's first passport goes a small way towards making that first family adventure a little easier and gives our youngest travellers a warm welcome to the world."
The offer is available for bookings made until November 26, and applies to one child per booking, up to 18 months old. Families flying from Birmingham and other UK airports can take advantage of this cost-saving measure, which directly addresses the financial challenges many parents face when planning their first holiday with a new baby.
