Corporate Demand Drives Sophisticated Relaunch of Lakeside Venue at Resorts World
Resorts World Birmingham has officially unveiled the transformed Lake Lounge, marking a significant transition for the venue as it moves away from its nightclub origins to become a dedicated hub for the West Midlands’ corporate sector. The refurbishment focuses on sophisticated versatility, specifically designed to bridge the gap between high-level daytime conferencing and professional evening hospitality.
Design Focused on Flexibility and Natural Assets
The redesign capitalises on the venue’s natural assets, including its signature lakeside views and floor-to-ceiling windows, while introducing a layout that solves the practical challenges of corporate event planning. By intelligently zoning the space with a mix of acoustic carpeting and original floorboarding, the room now offers greater flexibility, with the option of distinct areas for plenary sessions and breakout catering.
This is further enhanced by the installation of full-length drapery, which creates a space that feels appropriate regardless of the time of day. Lake Lounge has always boasted a private bar and DJ booth, but these elements can now be concealed for a daytime meeting, then revealed at night to create a high-energy atmosphere.
Response to Business Community Feedback
Andreas Tashos, General Manager for Genting Hotel and meetings and events at Resorts World Birmingham, commented on the new venue. "As a mixed-use destination with an integrated hotel, we have a high volume of corporate clients attracted to us because of the amount we can offer under one roof, with meeting space, overnight stays and plenty of options for team building and socialising, or because of our location right next to the NEC."
"We were seeing an increase in enquiries for those mid-sized meeting and events of 30-150 people and we recognised that while the Lake Lounge was an aesthetically beautiful space, it didn't always meet the functional needs of our corporate partners. This investment is a direct response to feedback from the Birmingham business community. We have created a contemporary environment that is flexible enough to host a boardroom meeting for 40 in the morning and a gala reception for 150 in the evening without compromising on professional tone."
Aesthetic and Technical Upgrades
The aesthetic overhaul replaces the former late-night feel with a sophisticated palette of deep blues and burnt oranges, designed to complement the abundant natural light. Beyond the visual updates, the 1,780 sq ft venue features a bespoke sound system, bespoke lighting, and full air conditioning to support a range of formats, from 100-capacity cabaret sessions to 200-delegate theatre-style presentations.
Competitive Introductory Packages
To coincide with the relaunch, Resorts World has introduced a series of competitive introductory packages for regional businesses. Available for bookings made by 28th February 2026, these include day delegate rates from £45 per person and evening event packages from £29 per person.
