Birmingham Airport has officially confirmed the relocation and reopening of its popular Caffè Nero outlet, now situated in a brand-new landside location within the terminal. The announcement was made on August 4, 2026, following the café's soft opening in early August.
New Location and Features
The newly relocated Caffè Nero is located on the ground floor in check-in Zone C, before security. This strategic position allows both departing passengers and visitors to enjoy the coffee house experience without needing to pass through security checks.
The new space is notably brighter and more spacious than its predecessor, featuring expanded indoor seating and a brand-new outdoor seating area. This design aims to create a more welcoming environment for travellers, airport staff, and visitors alike.
Operating Hours and Initial Success
The café operates daily from 3:30am to 8pm, with extended hours until 10pm depending on zone schedules. This flexibility ensures that early morning flyers and late-evening travellers can both access the services.
Birmingham Airport took to social media to share the news, including a video showcasing the upgraded facility. On Instagram, the airport wrote: "New landside café proves an immediate hit at Birmingham Airport." The post highlights the strong start the café has enjoyed since its opening.
Partnership and Comments
Richard Gill, Commercial Director at Birmingham Airport, expressed his satisfaction with the café's performance. "It's great to see Caffè Nero making such a positive start in its new home. The brand has been a valued partner at Birmingham Airport for many years, so it's fantastic to see customers embracing this new space so quickly," he said.
Gill also noted the benefits of the relocation: "The relocation has created a much more welcoming environment, with additional indoor seating and an outdoor area where customers can relax before or after their journey, which is proving particularly popular on sunny days."
Glyn House, Managing Director of Caffè Nero UK, commented: "Birmingham Airport is a hugely important part of our airport business and is a fantastic partner for us. We have always loved serving the customers and employees who use the airport and the new store allows us to do that to an even higher standard."
Context and Impact
The relocation forms part of the terminal's ongoing ground floor transformation and catering upgrade. This development reflects Birmingham Airport's commitment to enhancing passenger experience and supporting premium retail offerings.
Caffè Nero has been a fixture at the airport for over a decade, and this move strengthens its presence. The new outdoor seating area is expected to be a draw during warmer months, providing a pleasant spot for relaxation.
For regular travellers, the new location offers a convenient stop before security, making it accessible to a wider range of customers, including those meeting or seeing off passengers.
The positive early response suggests that the investment in the new space is paying off, with the airport and Caffè Nero both optimistic about the future of this partnership.
