Norton Rose Fulbright's Newcastle office has marked its 10th anniversary with significant growth, creating 40 new jobs over the past 12 months. The global law firm's Quayside base, which began as an innovation and technology hub, now employs over 370 staff across 10 departments.
New Roles and Expansion
The 40 new positions include six associate and senior lawyers, 20 roles in finance and IT, and 15 paralegals. This investment in local talent underscores the office's evolution from a small due diligence team in 2016 to a critical operational centre.
Strategic Importance
Described as Norton Rose Fulbright's specialist innovation and technology hub, the Newcastle office provides business and legal services to global clients. Leaders highlight the North East's emergence as a UK AI Growth Zone as a key factor in shaping future growth.
Rod Harrington, chief operating officer for Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, said: "10 years on, Newcastle has become one of the most important operational centres in our global firm. What began as our first innovation hub now delivers legal, technology and business services at a scale and quality that has genuinely changed how we serve clients across the EMEAPAC region and beyond."
Peter Scott, global managing partner, added: "Newcastle has played a crucial role in advancing the firm’s transformation programme. Reaching our 10-year milestone is a testament to the strength of our teams and the relationships we have built across the city and the wider North East."
Future Outlook
Dan Newcombe, head of Legal Services in Newcastle, said: "We are incredibly proud of what has been built here and look forward to continuing to strengthen our impact, while cementing our position as an employer of choice in the North of England." The office's growth reflects its integral role in the firm's global operations and its potential to shape future legal service delivery.
