A UK haulage firm has appointed liquidators, with a family-operated business poised to cease trading permanently. Roger Petch Transport Limited, a haulage operator headquartered in Yorkshire, appointed administrators on April 9.
The liquidation documentation and the Resolution for Winding Up notice were released in the London Gazette during the early hours of April 16. The report confirms Michael Jenkins has been named as the liquidator, with the firm expected to 'be wound up voluntarily'.
Liquidators are typically brought in to shut down a company, assuming control to dispose of assets, settle debts, and terminate operations. According to Companies House, the enterprise was established in 2010, meaning the firm has recently marked its 15th anniversary.
Currently, Google shows Roger Petch Transport Limited as 'permanently closed'. The firm operates from both Sykehouse and Great Heck, settlements in East Yorkshire. According to Companies House, the firm relocated their registered office to York earlier this month.
The enterprise has focused on bulk tippers, transporting everything from sand, stone, gypsum, plastic pellets, ash, coal, and biomass. Nevertheless, the firm also provides a variety of haulage solutions, including low loaders, a 45ft Tautliner and an 8-wheeled bulk tipper capable of transporting up to 20 tonnes of product.
Roger Petch stated they take pride in delivering a 'first-class service to all customers, new and old'. The firm has garnered a string of five-star reviews, with customers commending the local business. Reviewer Ian Wilson noted: 'Friendly family-run business.' John Scheenen had previously commented: 'Family-run firm [where] ya still get treated [very] well.'
Yet, it is not the sole haulage operator to encounter difficulties this spring, with another significant company entering administration this month. Martyn Barratt Transport Limited, a Nottingham-based haulage firm, went into administration on 13 April. The haulage operator boasts more than 25 years of expertise in warehousing and distribution services, providing a variety of transport and warehousing solutions. The company states it operates a fleet of over 60 vehicles, ranging from a 3.5-tonne sprinter van to larger 7.5-tonne vans equipped with tail lifts. The haulage firm has been operating since 2000 and marked its 25th anniversary last July.
