Sargent Electrical Services Breaks Ground on Major Beverley Manufacturing Facility
Construction has officially commenced on a significant new factory for electrical equipment manufacturer Sargent Electrical Services in Beverley. Building crews from principal contractor Triton Construction are now active at the Grovehill site, which will host the company's state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Centre.
Project Details and Workforce Expansion
The 85,000 square foot facility represents a substantial investment by the family-run business. Groundworks are currently in progress as part of the initial construction phase, with the steel framework expected to arrive on site within weeks. The facility has been specifically designed to operate predominantly off-grid, reflecting modern sustainability standards.
This expansion is projected to increase Sargent's workforce from approximately 140 employees to around 200, creating approximately 60 new jobs. The company anticipates the new manufacturing centre will become operational starting April next year.
Enhanced Production Capabilities
The new factory will provide Sargent with increased capacity for producing electrical systems specifically for motorhomes and caravans. Additionally, the facility will feature new office accommodations and enhanced employee amenities, creating a modern working environment.
Triton Construction, which has a proven track record delivering industrial, logistics and manufacturing developments across Northern England, will oversee the entire project. The contractor will manage all specialist subcontractors and building services throughout the construction process.
Industry Perspectives on the Development
Paul Clarkson, Managing Director at Triton Construction, commented: "This is a fantastic project for our team and an important investment in advanced manufacturing in East Yorkshire. Triton Construction is ready to deliver this facility and showcase our expertise in the industrial, logistics and manufacturing sectors."
James Burgess, Contracts Manager at Triton Construction, added: "With construction now underway our focus is on maintaining a safe, well-coordinated programme. We will be working diligently with local residents and other neighbours to be a considerate constructor."
Company Vision and Future Outlook
Ian Sargent, Managing Director of Sargent Electrical Services, stated: "The Advanced Manufacturing Centre represents a major step forward for our business. It will allow us to expand manufacturing capacity, improve efficiency and create a modern facility that reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability."
The £14.8 million turnover company specializes in constructing intricate wiring systems and has established a strong niche in motorhome and caravan electrical systems. Beyond this core market, Sargent has achieved notable success on large-scale projects, including several prominent London landmarks. The firm has also developed telemetry-based systems used in precision farming, providing farmers with valuable data on soil conditions and other critical variables.
Sargent secured planning permission last year for the Grovehill site, which previously housed a care home. The company currently operates from a unit at Tokenspire Business Park and views this new facility as a crucial investment in its future growth and technological capabilities.
