Subsea cable protection expert Tekmar has clinched a significant £4 million contract for a major European offshore wind farm development. The County Durham-based manufacturing firm will provide its advanced 10th Generation Cable Protection Systems and associated equipment to an established, though unnamed, customer in the renewable energy sector.
Financial Timeline and Project Details
The delivery of these critical systems is scheduled for the upcoming year, with the associated revenue anticipated to flow into Tekmar's financial accounts across the 2026 and 2027 fiscal periods. This new agreement underscores Tekmar's engineering and design prowess, as the company leverages its extensive expertise in safeguarding subsea infrastructure.
Strengthening the Order Book
Phil Lanigan, Chief Financial Officer of Tekmar Group plc, highlighted the contract's importance, stating, "This contract reflects continued delivery against Project Aurora, adding further depth to our record order book and enhancing visibility into FY27." He further revealed that since July 1, 2025, Tekmar has secured an impressive £43 million in new orders, including over £15 million slated for execution beyond September 30, 2026. Lanigan emphasized that this represents a substantial improvement in order book strength and forward visibility compared to historical levels.
Market Growth and Strategic Alignment
Richard Turner, CEO of Tekmar Group plc, expressed enthusiasm about supporting the customer on this landmark European offshore wind project. He noted, "We are encouraged by recent newsflow which evidences the long-term growth opportunity in this maturing market." Turner pointed to the Hamburg Declaration, which fosters increased European intergovernmental collaboration, as a key driver accelerating offshore wind deployment and enhancing energy security through interconnected cross-border assets.
This announcement follows the UK's record-breaking offshore wind auction in January 2026, which secured an additional 8.4 GW of capacity. Turner affirmed that these industry milestones significantly boost market visibility and align perfectly with Tekmar's Project Aurora growth strategy.
Recent Contract Successes
This latest award continues a series of recent contract wins for Tekmar. Just last month, the company sealed a $1.5 million deal to supply equipment for a development in the Middle East. Only weeks prior, Tekmar announced securing a second offshore wind contract with another engineering, procurement, and construction customer, valued at over $8 million. That agreement also involves supplying its 10th Generation Cable Protection System for a major UK offshore wind farm, providing longer-term revenue visibility.
Tekmar's track record is formidable, with more than 12,000 systems deployed to protect over two-thirds of the world's installed offshore wind capacity. This new £4 million European project further solidifies its position as a leader in subsea cable protection technology within the rapidly expanding global renewable energy market.
