Birmingham City academy graduate Jordan James is at the centre of a Championship transfer tug-of-war, with four clubs reportedly keen to bring him back to England.
James starred for Leicester City last season, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists from midfield, and was named the EFL Championship Young Player of the Year. Leicester had an option to sign him permanently from French side Rennes, but their relegation to League One ended any hopes of keeping him.
Who wants James?
According to journalist Alan Nixon, West Ham, Wolves, Burnley and Middlesbrough are all interested in the 22-year-old. All four are expected to compete at the top of the Championship this season, and James won't come cheap.
Earlier this summer, it was reported that Rennes value James at £13 million, two years after they signed him from Blues for around £6 million.
Blues sell-on clause
Birmingham City reportedly inserted a clause in the deal that will see them bank 10 per cent of the profit Rennes make on James. However, that is not expected to provide a significant boost to Chris Davies' transfer budget this window.
James has been capped 26 times at senior level by Wales and already has 119 Championship appearances under his belt. He has started pre-season with Rennes, but a return to English football appears imminent.
