Paramount+ UK prices rise up to £24 a year from August 27

Paramount+ is increasing subscription prices across all its UK packages from August 27, with annual costs rising by up to £24 for some customers. The streaming service confirmed the new rates, which affect the basic, standard, and premium tiers, in an update to its website.

New monthly prices for all tiers

The basic package will rise from £4.99 to £5.99 per month, an increase of £1. The standard package, currently priced at £7.99, will go up to £9.99 per month, a £2 rise. The premium tier, which offers the most extensive viewing features including 4K UHD and HDR where available, will increase from £10.99 to £12.99 per month, also a £2 rise.

These changes mean that a customer on the basic plan will pay £12 more per year, while those on the standard or premium plans will pay £24 more annually. The new prices take effect on August 27, just over a week away.

What the service offers

On its website, Paramount+ describes itself as offering “Unique stories. Iconic stars. A mountain of entertainment.” The service provides thousands of hours of content, including brand-new originals, exclusive shows, reality favorites, and blockbuster movies. It also includes hundreds of episodes of popular kids’ shows, according to the company’s own description.

The premium tier is the top option, providing the full Paramount+ catalogue alongside enhanced viewing quality. The standard tier still includes the core library, while the basic package offers access at a lower resolution, though the company did not specify resolution details in its announcement.

Sky customers: what changes for you

For Sky+ HD customers using a Sky+ set-top box, the Paramount+ app is not available on that device. However, they can still access Paramount+ content through the Catch-Up section on their Sky homepage, according to Sky’s guidance.

Sky Q and Sky Glass customers can access the Paramount+ app directly on their devices. If Sky Cinema is included in their package, they can sign up for Paramount+ through the app. If Sky Cinema is not included, they can sign up on the Paramount+ website and then open the app on their Sky device to select ‘Sign In with Paramount+’.

The price changes come as part of a broader adjustment to the streaming service’s UK pricing structure, affecting all subscribers regardless of how they access the platform.
