Aston Villa are set to contest FIFA's decision to block the registration of Brian Madjo at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) next month. The teenage striker, who turns 18 in January, joined Villa from FC Metz in a deal worth up to £10 million but has not yet been able to play for the club.
FIFA's Restriction
FIFA has prevented Villa from registering Madjo under regulations that generally prohibit the international transfer of players under 18. Villa will challenge this ruling at CAS in Switzerland on July 1.
Player Background
Madjo was born in Enfield in 2009 and holds Luxembourg nationality. He has represented Luxembourg at senior international level and later played for England Under-17s. Before joining Villa, he made two starts in Ligue 1 for Metz, with five appearances in total.
