Birmingham City New Loan Agreement with Knighthead Explained
Birmingham City New Loan Agreement with Knighthead

Birmingham City have entered into another loan agreement with owners Knighthead Capital, as per Companies House. A 64-page document was filed on May 27 detailing a business loan taken out from KHR Servicing, LLC, a subsidiary of Knighthead.

The document does not disclose any figures, and BirminghamLive has been informed that it is merely 'housekeeping' related to the ongoing funding Blues receive from Knighthead. Knighthead have invested heavily since taking control three years ago and are promising to spend up to £3 billion to build a Sports Quarter, with a 62,000-seater stadium as the centrepiece.

Knighthead have topped up Blues' balance sheet throughout their tenure. This year's accounts, covering the 2024/25 season, revealed that Knighthead extended the club's loan facility to £150 million last summer. The accounts forecast an additional £59 million needed from Knighthead to cover the period between July 2025 and December 2026.

This latest filing is believed to be part of that funding and has been signed by chief executive Jeremy Dale and new chief financial officer Andrew Rudd.
