Historic 17th Century Shropshire Pub For Sale at Auction
Grade II Listed Shropshire Pub Up for Sale

A piece of Shropshire's history is set to change hands as a historic Grade II-listed village pub goes under the hammer just before Christmas.

The Bull on Pelham Street in the highly desirable village of Rodington will be offered at auction on Wednesday, 10 December, with a guide price starting from £235,000.

A Pub Steeped in History

This is no ordinary property sale. According to Historic England, the establishment boasts a rich heritage, with a rear timber-framed wing that dates as far back as the 17th Century. The main building was added later, constructed in the late 18th or early 19th Century.

Ian Tudor, commercial auction director at Bond Wolfe, which is selling the pub in partnership with leisure property specialists Fleurets, described Rodington as a "highly desirable village" situated approximately 10 miles east of Shrewsbury and four miles north of Wellington.

Inside The Bull Pub

Mr Tudor elaborated on the property's appeal, calling it an "attractive, currently vacant, two-storey pub of great character." The brick-built freehold property features distinctive white-washed rendering and occupies an elevated position in the village.

The pub offers approximately 4,273 sq ft of interior space across a 0.3-acre site. Its layout includes two main trading areas. At the front, a public bar runs the full width of the building, complete with a timber servery, tiled floor, beamed ceiling, a brick-built fireplace, bench seating, and two dart-throwing areas.

At the rear, accessible by four steps, is a dining area capable of seating 52 covers. This space is served by a kitchen and features high exposed eaves. The property also boasts a chilled beer cellar and customer toilets.

For outdoor service, there is a small front seating area and a much larger decked area to the side, complemented by a car park with space for around 12 vehicles.

Spacious Living Accommodation

Adding to its potential, The Bull comes with substantial private living quarters on the first floor. The accommodation includes three bedrooms, one of which is a double with an en-suite shower room. There is also a further double bedroom and a single bedroom.

Additional living space comprises a living room, a kitchen, a second shower room, a separate toilet, and an office, making it a complete live-work opportunity for a new owner.

Perfectly positioned opposite the village church, the pub is described as being "ideally situated as both a village pub and a destination for food."

The auction for The Bull will be part of Bond Wolfe's larger sale, featuring 175 lots, starting at 8.30 am on Wednesday, 10 December. The event will be livestreamed, with remote bidding available by proxy, telephone, or via the internet.
