Frankfurt Christmas Market and Festive Gift Fair
The Frankfurt Christmas Market returns to Victoria Square and New Street from Thursday, 5 November to Thursday, 24 December 2026. Described as the largest authentic German market outside Germany and Austria, it features traditional wooden stalls, glühwein, bratwurst, schnitzel, and live music in the city centre.
For indoor festive shopping, the Festive Gift Fair takes place at the NEC Birmingham from 19 November to 22 November 2026. The event hosts hundreds of stalls selling artisan crafts, unique gifts, holiday decorations, and gourmet food under one roof.
Luminate Winter Light Trail and outdoor attractions
The Luminate Winter Light Trail transforms Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Edgbaston into an illuminated night walk from 28 November 2026 to 2 January 2027. Visitors can follow a mile-long route featuring interactive light tunnels, projection mapping, ambient music, and fire pits for marshmallow toasting. Sensory-friendly sessions are available on selected dates.
In the city centre, Ice Skate Birmingham and the Big Wheel set up at Centenary Square from early November 2026 into early January 2027. The site includes a covered ice-skating rink suitable for all weather conditions, alongside a 40-metre wheel offering views of the illuminated city skyline.
Stage shows at Birmingham Hippodrome
Birmingham Royal Ballet presents Sir Peter Wright's production of The Nutcracker at the Birmingham Hippodrome from Friday, 20 November to Saturday, 12 December 2026. The performance features the live Royal Ballet Sinfonia playing Tchaikovsky's score, a 30-foot Christmas tree, and a falling snow sequence.
Running alongside the ballet season, the Birmingham Hippodrome Christmas Pantomime fills the venue from late November 2026 into January 2027. Known as the West Midlands' largest annual pantomime, the production includes star-studded comedy routines, musical numbers, and family-focused stage effects.
