The iconic Stourport Lights home, decorated annually with more than 30,000 Christmas lights by volunteer Nick Wright, is now on the market for £325,000. The new owner can inherit all the lighting and equipment, allowing the beloved festive tradition to continue.
A Legacy of Lights and Community Spirit
For 25 years, Nick Wright has transformed his three-bedroom detached home on Malham Road in Stourport-on-Severn into a dazzling spectacle, drawing visitors from across the region. The free displays, which included 90-minute shows synchronised to Christmas songs and a mix of music, have raised thousands of pounds for the Severn Valley Railway, where Nick volunteers as a guard, shunter, and signalman.
Nick, who has run Stourport Lights for six years (taking a break in 2025), said: "After 25 wonderful years, I’ve decided to sell my lovely home. I’ve absolutely loved the garden, having my solar panels with free hot water, doing the Christmas Lights and I’m going to miss it so much. It’s officially on the market. The new owner is welcome to carry on Stourport Lights as I can leave all the equipment."
What the Sale Includes
The property features solar panels, an EV charger, an integral garage, and a private rear garden. Nick has offered to leave behind all the lighting and equipment, making it a unique opportunity for a buyer to continue the tradition. The home has been a focal point for the community, with neighbours patiently tolerating the influx of visitors each year.
Nick added: "Each year, it takes me a lot of time to put the lights up, change over and then take them down again. My neighbours have been very understanding year after year, given the amount of traffic."
A New Chapter in Bewdley
This is not the end of Nick's festive lights. He plans to move to nearby Bewdley, also in Worcestershire, and reinstate his lights show there. The move ensures that the community will continue to enjoy his spectacular displays, which have included themed shows like Disney-inspired Fantasmic and music from artists such as Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.
Nick also hosted sensory shows on Sundays, featuring gentle lights and no music, and often extended his displays until Boxing Day. His fundraising efforts have been vital for the Severn Valley Railway, with Nick noting: "A steam train can only be in service for 10 years before its boiler needs to be overhauled. A loco can cost in excess of £250,000 to restore and every donation helps this valuable cause."
