10 New Shops, Bars, and Businesses Including Tesco to Open at Sutton Coldfield’s Gracechurch Centre
10 New Shops and Bars Coming to Sutton Coldfield Centre

Big changes are set to take place at the Gracechurch Centre in Sutton Coldfield, with 10 new shops, bars, cafes, and leisure operators arriving at the site. A marketing document released by property agency Barker Proudlove has revealed the new additions, including major names like Tesco and national jeweller F Hinds.

New Businesses Confirmed

The ‘Asset Overview’ report lists businesses already signed up or under offer. These include Tesco (food), F Hinds (jewellers), Lane 7 bowling alley, Bonmarché (women’s fashion), Clip n Climb (climbing venue), Pom (café), Havana Lounge Cocktail Roof Terrace (bar), Sevenoaks Sound and Vision (hi-fi and TVs), North West (clothes), and a mystery food and drink outlet. Additionally, Glamour Forever is moving from a stall to a permanent shop in the former Claire’s Accessories unit.

Development Plans

The document also indicates that Plantsbrook House, an office block above businesses like the West Brom building society, will be converted into 25 residential units. This is a scaled-down version of earlier plans that proposed flattening the area for high-rise apartments. The new flats will house 40 residents, providing an immediate local customer base.

However, the Tesco site appears to be where existing tenants Ryman and Toys 4 You are located, and it is unclear whether they will be relocated. The flats plan also means charity Acacia Family Support and Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will need to find new homes.

Centre Statistics

The document promotes the centre’s affluent visitors, with an average household income of £65,000 within a mile—67% higher than the West Midlands average. It notes 78% home ownership, 5.5 million annual visitors (aiming for 8 million), and proximity to Sutton station (940,000 passengers yearly) and a bus hub (1.5 million users on 19 routes).

The Gracechurch Centre, owned by Birmingham Property Group and SAV Group, has seen footfall rise 10%. A £600,000 modernisation plan includes upgraded ceilings, lighting, seating, greenery, digital screens, canopies, and projection systems. A rooftop padel centre is also under negotiation.
