Aldi First to Stock Easter Hot Cross Buns at Just 20p Each
Aldi launches 20p hot cross buns, first for Easter 2026

Aldi has claimed a significant seasonal victory by becoming the first UK supermarket to stock hot cross buns for Easter 2026. The budget retailer, recently crowned Which?'s Cheapest Supermarket of the Year, has rolled out the festive treats nationwide, with prices starting from just 20p per bun.

A Sweet Start to the Easter Season

Shoppers can now find two varieties of fruited hot cross buns on Aldi's shelves. For those seeking a premium option, the Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns are available in a pack of four for £1.49. Aldi describes these as generously filled with succulent fruits and warming spices.

For a more traditional and budget-friendly choice, the Village Bakery Fruited Hot Cross Buns offer a six-pack for £1.19, working out at the headline price of 20p each. These are marketed as soft, lightly spiced buns, ideal for toasting.

Chocolate Eggs Make a Welcome Return

Alongside the baked goods, Aldi has also reintroduced its popular range of Chocolate Mini Eggs, a firm favourite with customers. The Choceur Mini Chocolate Eggs (£1.15 for a 74g bag) are back in three flavours: zesty orange, cool mint, and a new velvety caramel variety.

The retailer is also offering its filled egg selections. The Dairyfine Filled Mini Eggs (£2.49, 150g) feature milk chocolate with hazelnut filling and dark chocolate with an orange centre. Meanwhile, the Moser Roth Luxury Filled Eggs (£2.79, 150g) come individually wrapped with milk chocolate shells enclosing Milk Truffle, Milk Hazelnut, or Crispy Hazelnut fillings.

What Shoppers Can Expect Next

This initial launch is just the beginning of Aldi's Easter offering. The supermarket has confirmed that its full Easter range will land in stores over the coming weeks, giving customers plenty of time to plan their celebrations. The early move to market is a strategic play by Aldi to capture the seasonal spending of bargain-hunters and festive food lovers ahead of its competitors.

All products mentioned, including the hot cross buns and mini eggs, are available now in Aldi stores across the United Kingdom.
