Aldi's 'four per person' rule on £9.99 Christmas champagne

Supermarket giant Aldi has introduced a strict new purchasing rule for one of its most sought-after festive products, as Brits rush to stock up for Christmas celebrations.

Champagne Sales Skyrocket, Prompting Purchase Limit

The retailer has officially enforced a four-bottle limit per customer on its Nicolas de Montbart Champagne, priced at just £9.99. The move comes in direct response to a massive surge in demand, with sales of the budget bubbly increasing by 76 per cent.

Aldi describes the drink as a popular tipple that combines Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, resulting in a subtle elegance. It is said to burst with bright fruit and delicate floral notes, making it an easy-drinking aperitif-style sparkling wine, perfect for Christmas toasts.

The demand isn't limited to one product. Sales of Aldi's Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut have also seen a significant jump, with a 38 per cent increase recorded.

Wide-Ranging Discounts on Booze and Festive Veg

This spike in alcohol sales coincides with another major promotion. Aldi has revealed it is cutting the price of over 65 bottles in its Specially Selected wine range by a substantial 25 per cent. This offer is available in stores across the country while stocks last.

Beyond beverages, Aldi's famous festive 'Super Six' vegetable initiative returns on Wednesday, December 18. The promotion allows customers to pick up essential Christmas dinner vegetables for just 8p each.

The items included in this standout deal are:

  • White Potatoes (2kg)
  • Carrots (1kg)
  • Parsnips (500g)
  • Red and White Cabbages
  • Brussels Sprouts (500g)
  • Swede

This vegetable offer will run until December 24, or while stocks last, prompting shoppers to act quickly to secure the bargains.

Plan Your Shop: Festive Opening Hours

Shoppers are also reminded that Aldi will be operating special Christmas opening hours on certain days next week. The supermarket advises customers to check the operating times of their local store before making a trip.

With a perfect storm of high demand for affordable champagne, deep discounts on wine, and incredibly cheap vegetables, Aldi is positioning itself as a key destination for cost-conscious Christmas preparations.
