Bodycare reopened at Merry Hill on Saturday, October 10, drawing dozens of queuing customers into the lower mall, just around the corner from the bus station where the store originally stood before closing. The return of the 2000s favourite saw crowds gather from opening, with queues continuing into the afternoon.
New Studio Store features and opening celebrations
The 'new generation' beauty store marked its arrival with music performances, a DJ, and goodie bags for customers. Inside, the Studio Store houses a piercing studio and a free-to-book content creator studio equipped with professional equipment for community use. The new-look outlet also carries a Korean beauty range and an extensive Technic cosmetics selection for make-up lovers.
Bodycare has promised that while the store has a new look and new brands, it retains the same 'what, what?' prices as before its closure. The company entered administration in September 2025 and closed its last stores, including branches in the Black Country.
Expansion across the UK
The Merry Hill opening is part of a broader push for new stores, with Sheffield, Derby, and Leicester also getting new shops. Bodycare CMO Tash Courtenay-Smith said: "Coming back to our original unit at Merry Hill is a really special moment for us. So many people have told us they grew up shopping at Bodycare here, and we can't wait to show them what we've become."
Charles Denton, CEO of Bodycare, added: "Merry Hill was an easy decision for us. It's one of the UK's great retail destinations, welcoming more than 15 million visitors a year from right across the West Midlands, and it has exactly the energy we're looking for."
Community focus and opening hours
Denton continued: "Our Studio Stores are about much more than selling products. They're places to discover, create, connect and have fun, and we want to play a real role in the local community."
The store is now open at Merry Hill from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm on Saturdays, and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
