Planning applications for the transition date back to January, with a window sign at the site confirming the change from a coffee shop to a convenience store. According to the signage, Tesco applied for the grant of a premises licence earlier this year, solidifying its plans to occupy the space.
Fencing has been erected around the building, and a refurbishment company has begun work on the unit, with wires and electrical components visible through the windows. While no specific opening date has been officially confirmed, Tesco is set to replace the coffee chain in this prime city centre location.

Coffee#1 operated in this unit for nearly ten years, having opened in 2017. Prior to that, the site was home to Lloyds Bank. The building is situated next to the popular curry house Asha's, adding to the area's diverse commercial offerings.
