John Lewis Announces Major Partnership with Benugo Across 32 UK Locations
John Lewis has unveiled a significant new partnership with renowned café operator Benugo, marking a major expansion of their existing collaboration. The ambitious project will see the complete refresh of 32 John Lewis in-store dining spaces nationwide, creating a revitalised hospitality experience for customers.
Expanding an Established Partnership
This announcement represents a substantial deepening of the relationship between the two brands, following two years of detailed negotiations. Benugo already operates ten successful outlets within John Lewis stores, and this new agreement will significantly expand their presence across the retailer's estate.
Katie Papakonstantinou, John Lewis' director of services and hospitality, expressed enthusiasm about the development, stating that the changes would deliver "a fresh and exciting John Lewis hospitality experience" for customers across the country.
Project Timeline and Locations
The comprehensive upgrade programme is scheduled for completion by 2027, with work on six initial sites expected to commence in May. While specific details about most locations remain confidential, it has been confirmed that the iconic Oxford Street flagship store in London will feature a new Benugo-operated restaurant on its fifth floor.
Ben Warner, founder of Benugo, commented on the expanded partnership: "We're incredibly proud of our longstanding partnership with John Lewis, and we're excited to be growing it to create an exciting new brand. As we expand our work together, we'll be working closely with the partners, sharing our focus on training and experience so the teams feel supported and confident to deliver the warm, welcoming hospitality that both Benugo and John Lewis are known for."
Enhanced Dining Experience
The revamped dining spaces will feature menus incorporating freshly baked goods and handmade pizzas, with a reported emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients. The first of the upgraded locations are expected to launch to the public this summer, offering customers an enhanced culinary experience during their shopping visits.
This strategic partnership represents a significant investment in John Lewis' in-store hospitality offering, aiming to create distinctive dining destinations that complement the retailer's renowned customer service and quality products.
