Kellogg's has quietly discontinued Frosted Wheats, an iconic breakfast cereal that has been a staple on UK supermarket shelves since the early 1990s. The decision has left many shoppers gutted, with some describing the cereal as 'absolutely love' and a perfect start to the day.
Official Statement from Kellogg's
A spokesperson for the cereal brand, which also produces Cornflakes, Rice Krispies, and Special K, explained: 'As we evolve our cereal range for the future, we sometimes make the choice to discontinue specific products. While Frosted Wheats are no longer part of our range, we continue to offer a selection of other high fibre cereals like Special K Crunchy Golden Clusters and Bran Flakes to suit different tastes and breakfasts.'
Shopper Reactions
Online reviews reflect the disappointment among fans. One Tesco reviewer gave the cereal a 5/5 rating, stating: 'Absolutely love these. Great price, low calorie, nutritious. The frosting is a light sweet touch and you don't have to put anything on them. Though I enjoy them with blueberries and/or a banana. I like a few of them as a snack too without feeling guilty. Great buy.'
Another shopper commented: 'Who does not love Kellogg's? It's a great brand, it's reliable, it tastes great! My whole family loved that I got this product! Would recommend it for all :) tastes delicious and is easy to do when you are in rush!'
A third added: 'I've recently just finished a box of this Wheat Frosted cereal. It was very tasty and filling and just sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. It is really nice with some cold milk and kept me full until lunch time.'
Parents also praised the cereal: 'My children particularly enjoyed these. They make a good alternative to the usual cereals they eat. They weren't too sweet and seemed to provide enough energy to keep us all going through the morning. Well worth a try.'
The discontinuation has been described as 'sad, desperate times' and 'proper gutted' by disappointed consumers, highlighting the strong attachment to this breakfast staple.
