Lidl Announces Major Easter Trading Changes Across England
Lidl, the prominent German discount supermarket chain, has confirmed significant alterations to its trading schedule for the upcoming Easter period. In a notable move, the retailer will implement a complete 24-hour closure of all its stores located in England on Easter Sunday, which falls on April 5. This decision marks a substantial operational shift for the company during the holiday weekend.
Regional Variations and Revised Opening Hours
While English branches will remain shut for the entire day on Easter Sunday, Lidl has clarified that its stores in Scotland will continue to operate normally on that date. Furthermore, the supermarket giant has outlined specific adjustments for other key days. On Good Friday, all Lidl shops will welcome customers, but with reduced operating hours from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, a change from the standard 11:00 PM closing time.
For Easter Monday, branches will reopen; however, they will function on a shorter schedule, operating from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Lidl, which competes directly with rivals such as Aldi, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, and Sainsbury's, has numerous locations across the UK, including a significant presence in Birmingham. Customers are advised to consult the official Lidl website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding specific store hours throughout the Easter holiday.
