M&S Phases Out Beloved Percy Pig Fizzy Juice Product
Marks & Spencer has confirmed it is discontinuing a popular Percy Pig fizzy fruit juice drink, leaving shoppers across its Birmingham stores and nationwide feeling "heartbroken." The decision is part of the retailer's ongoing strategy to innovate and refresh its product offerings based on customer feedback and market trends.
Shopper Reaction and Social Media Exchange
A Percy Pig enthusiast took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to express concern over the missing item. "Hi @marksandspencer is there a reason why I can’t find the fizzy Percy pig juice anywhere! I’m in turmoil over this," the user posted.
M&S responded directly, stating, "Hey Jordi! I’ve checked and it’s not showing in stock anywhere. Seems we might be phasing it out, sorry about this…" The fan later replied that they had managed to find remaining stock in their local store, clearing the shelves of reduced items to stock up for the coming months.
Official Statement from Marks & Spencer
A spokesperson for M&S Food provided clarification on the situation. "At M&S Food we are constantly innovating and refreshing our range of products, reacting to trends, and customer feedback," they explained.
The spokesperson highlighted that the retailer still offers over thirty different Percy Pig products in its Foodhalls, including the popular grape, apple, and raspberry juice drink, as well as various sweet bags featuring the original fruit gums. "Although our Percy Pig Phizzy Fruit Juice is currently not available, we always listen to customer feedback when reviewing future ranges," they added.
Broader Business Developments at M&S
This product change coincides with significant corporate announcements from the retail giant. Marks & Spencer has recently committed to a substantial £2.1 billion investment to extend its support for British lamb and beef farming.
The investment involves two new decade-long supplier contracts with ABP and Dunbia. These partners collaborate with approximately 3,500 M&S Select Farmers to supply British lamb and beef to the company's Foodhalls.
This ten-year agreement ensures a consistent, year-round British supply for M&S. It also protects the exclusivity of premium ranges such as Wagyu Gold, Aberdeen Angus Gold, and Organic products, responding to growing customer demand for high-quality beef.
The Aberdeen Angus Gold range, introduced last year, represents an integrated beef standard developed in partnership with farmers. It utilizes a science-led breeding program to guarantee exceptional quality and high animal welfare standards, while achieving a 40% lower carbon footprint compared to standard beef production.
