M&S Opens 4 New Stores and Refurbishes 6 More in London Expansion
M&S Expands: 4 New Stores, 6 Refurbished in London

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is opening four new stores and refurbishing six more as part of its latest expansion drive across London. The retailer has already launched two new food halls in the capital, with further openings planned for later this year.

New Store Openings

On May 27, M&S opened a new 8,900-square-foot food hall in Tooting Broadway. This was followed by a second location on Tottenham Court Road on Tuesday. The company intends to introduce ten new and improved London stores during 2026, alongside major refurbishments at six existing branches.

Two additional London stores are expected to open later this year: a new branch at Bell Green Retail Park in Sydenham, and a store at The Elephant Development in Elephant and Castle, slated for an autumn or winter launch.

Refurbishments and Investment

Alongside the expansion, M&S is carrying out significant refurbishments at six existing London stores. Sacha Berendji, operations director at M&S, said: "London has always been a special place for M&S, growing from penny bazaars in the early 20th century into fresh Foodhalls like the one in Brixton we reopened last year. Our pipeline of stores demonstrates our continued investment in London, and we will continue to bring the very best of M&S to customers from Brixton to Barnet for years to come."

An M&S spokesman confirmed the retailer is "continuing to invest heavily" in its store estate, with 15 new locations already opened across the UK this year.

New Training Programme

M&S, which also has branches in Birmingham, has announced Not Just Any Career, a new initiative that will create 1,000 training places for young people across the UK and Ireland. Designed to open opportunities for people at the start of their careers, the programme will focus on leadership skills, hands-on experience, and clear pathways into a retail career for life. Applicants do not need a degree to take part. Both M&S colleagues and external candidates can apply, from school leavers upwards, specifically aimed at 18–24-year-olds.
