New Birmingham Bakery Sells Nostalgic Treats Under £3

A new bakery called The Cake Place has opened on Dads Lane between Stirchley and Kings Heath, offering nostalgic treats at some of Birmingham's most affordable prices. The bakery, located next to the Co-op, sells everything from £1.50 sausage rolls to £1.95 pineapple creams and £2.50 Cornish pasties.

Affordable Bakery for Local Families

Owners Sinead Keenahan, 23, and Amber Hickey, 20, opened The Cake Place on March 7. The pair met when Sinead was working at another city bakery, and Amber joined after work experience. 'I was baking a few cakes from home for family and friends, and Amber had a little bakery in her back garden too,' Sinead explained.

Unlike pricier artisan bakeries nearby, The Cake Place focuses on keeping prices low. The most expensive item is a £3.50 Nutella cookie pie. 'When we were younger we remember families struggling,' said Sinead. 'We've both grown up with single moms and both our moms have got four kids,' Amber added, explaining their commitment to affordability for local families.

Community Response

The bakery features a sunny cake terrace and has been well-received by neighbours. It gets busier on weekends as word spreads about their budget-friendly bakes. The nostalgic treats and low prices have made it a popular new addition to the residential neighbourhood.
