Nails can change over time, becoming weaker and more prone to peeling and splitting. However, shoppers are praising a serum that promises smoother, stronger nails and helps improve the appearance of ridges.
Most traditional nail strengtheners are essentially clear polishes that give a hard outer coating. However, OPI's Repair Mode Bond Building Nail Serum penetrates the surface to strengthen and repair the nails from within – and there's currently a double discount. It's down from £29 to £23.20, but you can snap up a bottle for £18.56 using the code 'treat20'. The serum builds bonds with the nail keratin, making nails less likely to bend or peel and also helps create a smoother growth pattern to give a marked reduction in ridging.

The brand claims nails look improved after the first application and after six days of use you can expect smoother, stronger nails that are resistant to breakage, reports the Mirror. The OPI Repair Mode Nail Serum gets five stars from more than 300 customers on their website.
One said: "Menopause has had an awful effect on my nails, they used to be long and strong, now they're fragile, splitting at the top so can't grow long anymore, dry with vertical ridges that are prone to splitting. I've been using the repair mode serum for six weeks and have seen a huge improvement." OPI recommends applying the Repair Mode Nail Serum twice daily on bare nails for six days. For maximum effect, they suggest following this with two coats of Nail Envy and then moisturising nails and cuticles.
OPI's Nail Envy is a tinted nail strengthener in a wide range of shades, enriched with biotin, vitamins A, C, E and calcium, that provides additional protection against chipping, peeling and splitting. Usually £23, the 'treat20' code brings it down to £14.72. If you're looking for alternatives, Sally Hansen's Miracle Cure Nail Strengthener costs £11 at Boots. Apply one thin coat every other day and its micro-mineral formula fills in cracks and helps stop peeling, seals the nail plate and bonds layers together.
Also worth a look is the Mylee Double Bond Nail Treatment which costs £14.99 on Amazon. Infused with biotin, the serum is designed to help repair weak keratin bonds and restore strength to soft, bendy or damaged nails with consistent use. However, OPI is a well-respected nail care brand and their Repair Mode Bond Building Nail Serum gets an overall rating of 4.1 stars from 600 customers. While some said they 'haven't seen much of an improvement yet', others said it was 'excellent' for 'fragile, weak and ridged nails'.
One wrote: "I have had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and have other major health problems. My nails constantly broke, peeled and were an embarrassment to me. Now they are almost at the point of wearing nail polish! A first for about 15 years. Thank you so much."
A gardener, who was initially sceptical, calls it a 'miracle product'. They said: "For once, a product that delivers what it promises. Easy to apply and effective. I mean REALLY effective. I have had long strong nails all summer long (if a bit grubby some of the time). It really is a game-changer and I cannot rate it highly enough. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!"
