Primark Rolls Out Appointment-Based Clothing Repair Service in UK Stores
Primark has confirmed a significant shake-up in its retail operations by introducing bookable appointments for shoppers at three of its UK stores. The budget fashion retailer is expanding its affordable clothing repairs service through a partnership with The Seam, marking a major step in making garment care more accessible to high street customers.
Three Locations for the Trial Service
The repairs service is currently being trialed across three Primark stores: Manchester Market Street, Bromley in London, and Edinburgh Princes Street in Scotland. This initiative allows local shoppers to access simple same-day repairs and alterations, alongside more complex repair services for the first time in Primark's history.
The Seam's services will be available in all three Primark stores every Friday from now until June 5, 2026. Customers can book appointments during each store's regular opening hours, providing a structured and convenient way to maintain their clothing.
Executive Comments on the Initiative
Vicki Swain, Product Longevity Lead at Primark, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. "Last year's trial in Manchester demonstrated a clear demand from high street shoppers for a simpler and more accessible solution to fixing their favourite pieces," she said. "We're genuinely excited to see how more customers embrace this next step as we expand The Seam to three UK stores and introduce more complex repairs for the first time."
Layla Sargent, CEO of The Seam, highlighted the partnership's benefits. "We're delighted to be partnering with Primark to make clothing repair more accessible for customers. By bringing these services directly into store, we're helping extend the life of garments while celebrating the skill of local Makers. It's an exciting step towards making care and repair a natural part of the retail experience."
How the Appointment System Works
Shoppers can book an appointment online via individual Eventbrite pages for the Primark stores at Edinburgh Princes Street, Bromley, and Manchester Market Street. During their appointment, customers will meet with a Seam Maker to discuss their garment requirements.
- For simple services, customers can return later the same day to collect their repaired items.
- For more complex services, customers can return after one week when the service is available the following Friday.
Please note that the last available appointments will be on Friday, May 29, 2026. Once completed, the item will be ready to collect, freshly repaired and prepared for wear, offering a sustainable alternative to discarding damaged clothing.
